lofts in
south
london

Once the laughing stock of North London, cut off by the Thames and with the merest spattering of public transport, South London has emerged as something of a loft lover's paradise, reinvigorated by huge investment in the strip along the River Thames and by two major transport improvements: the Jubilee Line extension in 1999 and, in 2010, the London Overground.

Suddenly South London was on the map and its vast cacophony of old Victorian school houses, disused factories and chunky warehouses became the taste of London, many of them among our very favourite loft developments in the capital. Bankside and Bermondsey began the trend and remain the jewels in the crown, but push beyond the royal couple into the inner cities and burbs for a heady mix of former stables, workshops, churches and assorted buildings that have contributed a unique collection of individuality to the London loft scene.

Brixton, Clapham and Battersea have the inner cities covered, while the hitherto invisible Crystal Palace, Forest Hill and even Norwood contain some real delights.
